The tranquility of the shore (2022)
Inspired by the serene yet powerful environment of Cornwall's coastline, this photoshoot sought to capture the delicate balance between tranquility and loss. My connection to the beaches around Falmouth, where I often found solace in the rhythm of the waves, deeply influenced the concept. The shoot was designed to evoke the feelings of calmness that come from the ocean, but also the bittersweet sense of something being taken away as the tide drags objects and emotions out to sea.
The setting was a secluded stretch of rocks during the golden hour, with the sun slowly descending on the horizon. The waves crashing against the rocks provided a dramatic contrast to the overall peaceful ambiance. The hues of the sunset—soft pinks, deep oranges, and warm purples—bathed the scene in a gentle light, reflecting warmth onto the subject while highlighting her soft, contemplative expression.
The juxtaposition of the rough, relentless waves against the tender warmth of the sunset created a poignant visual metaphor for the emotions I wanted to convey—peace intertwined with the quiet ache of letting go.This shoot was not just about capturing a beautiful scene but also about telling a story of connection, tranquility, and the inevitable passage of time and emotion, just as the waves continuously reshape the shore.
