Luxuries of the forbidden table (2024)
Inspired by the opulence of Marie Antoinette’s era and her infamous quote; "Let them eat cake," this photoshoot explores the stark contrast between the lavish excess of the aristocracy and the harsh restrictions faced by the public. The concept was to portray wealth and indulgence through an elaborate display of food, while simultaneously highlighting the inaccessibility of such luxury to most people during that time.
In a highly stylized setting, the scene was filled with an extravagant spread of decadent pastries, fruits and delicacies—far too much for any one person. However, the twist lies in the portrayal of my subject, who, despite being surrounded by abundance, cannot access the food unless it’s stolen. This idea was brought to life through the chaotic mess left behind after she secretly indulges, reflecting the rush and excitement of forbidden pleasure. Her cheeky expressions as she glances around while eating emphasize the playful defiance and the thrill of breaking the rules.
