Golden Girl (2024)
Golden Girl was born out of a deep admiration for the work of Gustav Klimt, an artist whose distinctive style has always captivated me. Klimt’s use of rich gold tones and intricate patterns creates an opulent sense of wealth and warmth in his paintings, often conveying themes of romance and flirtation. Inspired by these elements, I sought to reinterpret them through the medium of photography, creating a vibrant and high-energy visual experience.
The concept behind Golden Girl was to translate Klimt’s signature opulence and my perception into a modern context, infusing the shoot with the same sense of richness and glamour that defines his work. To achieve this, I focused on every aspect of the composition—from the ornate, golden background that echoed Klimt’s intricate patterns to the styling and makeup of my model, which was designed to exude elegance and luxury.
Unlike Klimt’s often serene and romantic themes, I wanted my subject to embody a more dynamic energy as I saw the set and design being high powered and needed to balance that with the energy from the model. The subjects poses were bold and expressive, capturing the exuberance and vitality that comes with modern interpretations of glamour. The makeup featured shimmering gold accents, and the wardrobe included fabrics that caught the light, creating a sense of movement and vibrancy that felt both timeless and contemporary.
